She made her acting debut as Akemi in the 2021 film Yakuza Princess, which fits perfectly with the intensity she brings to Naoe. It’s rare to find a voice that can carry both vulnerability and razor-sharp focus, but MASUMI nails it.

Then there’s Yasuke, Naoe’s samurai counterpart and one of the game’s most talked-about characters. He’s voiced by Tongayi Chirisa, and honestly, the guy has range for days. I recognized his versatility because he’s popped up in everything from horror to romantic comedy. He played Father Nicholas in The Darkness, Hekule in Palm Springs, and even appeared in the sci-fi film Next Exit. That kind of genre-hopping is a tall order, but Chirisa makes Yasuke feel like a fully realized person rather than a video game archetype. Fujibayashi Nagato, Naoe’s father, doesn’t get as much screen time since he mostly appears in flashbacks, but his presence lingers over the entire narrative. He’s played by Peter Shinkoda, who I immediately recognized from his role as Nobu Yoshioka in Marvel’s Daredevil. Shinkoda also appeared as Dai in Falling Skies, and his ability to balance strength and tenderness makes Nagato’s flashback scenes hit like a ton of bricks. Even though Nagato is loosely based on a real historical figure, Shinkoda makes him feel personal and heartbreaking.

Finally, Oda Nobunaga, the overarching antagonist, is portrayed by Hiro Kanagawa, and good grief, he is menacing. Kanagawa has one of those resumes that makes you say, 'Wait, he was in that too?' He played Lieutenant Suzuki in Godzilla (2014) and Captain Tanaka in Man of Steel, but his television credits are just as impressive—The X-Files, Smallville, Star Trek: Discovery, The Man in the High Castle, and most recently Night Agent. With that much experience, Kanagawa knows exactly how to command a scene, and his Oda Nobunaga is a force to be reckoned with. The moment he appeared, I knew I was in for a wild ride.
