Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun Guide: How to Get Yasuke's Legendary Bow
I've spent a lot of time exploring the hidden tombs of Assassin's Creed Shadows, and the Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun remains one of the most satisfying Yasuke-only challenges in the game. Unlike many open-world activities, this ancient burial site forces you to combine stealthy ranged takedowns with careful crate manipulation, and the payoff is a Legendary bow that can reshape your playstyle. If you are hunting for powerful equipment in 2026, this guide will walk you through the exact location, the environmental puzzles, and the final treasure room.

Where to Find the Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun
The tomb sits southeast of Azuchi, a major settlement near the eastern edge of the map. It is northeast of The Shimmering Fields and lies east across the water from Sakamoto. From the Suzuka Foothills, I usually approach from the west and look for a small campsite near a tree. That campsite marks the entrance, and you may need to clear a few enemies before descending.

Naoe cannot enter this particular Kofun, so once you spot the entrance, switch to Yasuke. This restriction is important because the whole interior is built around Yasuke's larger frame, his ability to move heavy crates, and his ranged combat options.
How to Clear the First Interior Sections
After entering, you'll see enemies far ahead. The narrow corridors make direct melee combat awkward, so I prefer to equip a bow or teppo and eliminate targets from a distance before advancing. The layout encourages a cautious, almost tactical approach: move forward, smash through breakable barriers, and keep your ranged weapon ready.
Eventually you'll reach a wide gap that Yasuke cannot normally cross. Instead of trying to jump it, turn right and follow the tunnels down into a room you can drop into. This room contains a tall, vertical crate. Move it toward the edge so Yasuke can climb onto it and cross the next opening.

After the first two crate rooms, you'll reach a larger chamber. From there, turn right and continue into another area with a small gap. At the bottom of that room are two vertical crates. You need to arrange them carefully, but a second room nearby has broken rubble blocking the path forward. That rubble cannot be smashed with normal attacks.
Solving the Explosive Vase Puzzle
The key is to use red vases from the first room to blow up the rubble in the second room. Based on my successful runs, the safest method is:
-
Arrange the two vertical crates in the first room so they are evenly spaced.
-
Make sure Yasuke can take large steps from crate to crate rather than needing a full jump.
-
In the second room, position one vertical crate close to the rubble, but leave enough space to stand on it.
-
Pick up a red vase in the first room and carry it across both sets of crates.
-
While standing on the second room's crate, throw the red vase near the rubble.
-
Shoot the vase with a ranged weapon to trigger an explosion and clear the debris.
The challenge is not combat here but spacing. If a crate is even slightly too far, Yasuke will fail to carry the vase across. I usually test the route without the vase first, then repeat the same path while holding the explosive.
The Treasure Room and Final Rewards
Once the rubble is destroyed, continue into the treasure chamber. Several enemies will be waiting, so clear them out before looting the golden chest. The chest contains:
| Reward | Type |
|---|---|
| Heartspiller | Legendary Bow for Yasuke |
| Posture Shot with Charged Arrow | Engraving |
| 1x Knowledge Point | Progression currency |
| 2,000 XP | Experience |

Heartspiller is one of my favorite ranged weapons for Yasuke. Paired with the Posture Shot Engraving, it makes charged arrow attacks significantly more effective, allowing you to break enemy posture from a distance. For missions where taking a silent approach matters, this bow gives you a powerful opening tool without needing to rely on Naoe.
After looting the main chest, move the vertical crate to the left of the treasure platform to open a shortcut back outside. Before you leave, search the surrounding rooms for hidden chests and smaller loot. The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun is not the longest tomb in Assassin's Creed Shadows, but it is one of the most mechanically interesting. Clearing it rewards you with a stronger Yasuke build, more knowledge points, and the confidence to tackle higher-level enemies across the open world.
